Tuzla is located in the northeastern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the slopes of the Majevica mountain at an average altitude of 239 meters.

A favorable geographical position enables Tuzla to have good connections with other regions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as with neighboring countries and almost equally with the regions of Southeast, Central and Western Europe.

Tuzla is one of the oldest settlements in Europe with the continuity of life. In the area of today’s city center, the oldest Neolithic settlement in Europe was found, which dates from the neolithic (young Stone Age) unlike the other Neolithic settlements in Europe that date back to the Iron Age. Also, a large number of objects from the Neolithic period were found here, among which are special vessels for salt production, i.e. vessels for extraction of salt from salty water.

These archaeological finds confirm that the Neolithic inhabitants in this area exploited the salt springs and also that this settlement was the beginning of the continuity of living in the area of today’s city through all historical periods – from the neolithic to the present.

The City of Tuzla is continuously working on improving the quality of life of its citizens and on developing a tourist offer for visitors and tourists.
